Challenge
Ekdahls Möbler wanted to prepare early for the obligation, expected under the EU Green Deal, to provide an individual digital product passport for every product sold in Europe. As a smaller manufacturer, however, it lacked a clear picture of which internal processes and data would need to change to meet that requirement.
Solution
Two joint workshops with Ekdahls Möbler, Interior Cluster Sweden and Sigma Technology were used to gather requirements and surface open questions. Building on this, Sigma Technology produced a gap analysis comparing the current state with the state required in future, and worked with Lingon to build a prototype digital product passport for a specific piece of furniture, based on its own information model.
Results
The analysis resulted in a working prototype that captures information on the piece’s materials, manufacturing processes and sustainability attributes, aligned with upcoming EU requirements. The initiative was funded through the SILEO 1° Open Call.
