Challenge

A US-based startup set out to build a platform that supports family caregivers and helps prevent burnout. The application had started as a cross-platform product but quickly outgrew its original technical foundation. The client needed a reliable IT partner to modernize the product and add new functionality. What began as QA and development support grew into a broader partnership in which SoftTeco also provided product management and a dedicated development team.

Solution

Family First connects caregivers with trained Care Experts who provide information, recommendations and support around caregiving and monitor the caregivers‘ well-being. Within the app, users can manage a care recipient’s health records, invite support members from their personal network, and coordinate tasks through a built-in calendar – including a risk index that helps caregivers spot early signs of burnout. SoftTeco migrated the backend to .NET 8 and moved the mobile app from Xamarin Native to .NET MAUI, improving performance and reliability. The mobile app was redesigned while retaining the existing branding, and the web applications for Care Givers and Care Experts were designed from scratch, including a clickable prototype to support early-stage sales. Both platforms were built to comply with the WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standard, and previously separate mobile and web applications were connected through a centralized, secure backend. To safeguard quality, the team carried out extensive cross-platform and cross-browser testing and introduced SCRUM as an iterative project management approach.

Results

The platform is now running successfully across the United States, with the client reporting a steady inflow of new users. For SoftTeco, the project also helped grow its expertise in the telemedicine domain.
