Challenge
Lynk & Co wanted to move away from the traditional printed owner’s manual, which typically buries customers in unnecessary technical detail in a hard-to-access form. What it needed instead was a way to make vehicle information targeted, relevant, and available at all times, directly in the car.
Solution
Sigma Technology built an interactive digital user guide accessible both through the car’s display and via an Android app. The app includes, among other things, a 360° model of the vehicle and lets users find information through keyword search or menu navigation. It runs on a content management system (DocFactory) together with a distribution solution (Topicpack), which lets content be maintained centrally and pushed to vehicles via over-the-air updates. Test fleets additionally used a condensed digital manual, backed up by a printed guide for emergencies.
Results
The solution delivers vehicle information in several forms – from a 360° model to keyword search and menu navigation – and its content is tailored for the central vehicle display with images and animations. The over-the-air connection allows content on connected vehicles to be updated continuously, which the client says has simplified the workflow of its product information team. Work was delivered from three countries to combine flexibility and expertise, and Lynk & Co stated that the quality delivered exceeded original expectations.
